SONG OF THE WEEK ||The Champion by Nathaniel Bassey

Nathaniel Bassey song of the week

I love music and discovering a new song gives me a joy that I can’t really explain. It has always been said that music is the language of feeling and of passion, it is also food to the soul. Music has a strong effect on our emotions. So it can produce calmness or rage or sadness or happiness. It creates an understanding that goes beyond words. It’s important that you filter the kind of songs that you feed your soul with especially now that people just conjure up weird slangs in form of song lyrics.

The essence of this category of the blog is to help my readers update their music library periodically with the best of songs.

If you are conversant with the Nigerian Gospel Ministers (song artists) then Nathaniel Bassey would not be a strange name to you. He is a song minister, pastor, song writer and trumpeter who has consistently churned out song lifting songs since his entrance the industry some few years back. The songs “Imela” and “Onise Iyanu”are some of the popular songs by him that we all love.

In you alone I make my boast lyrics

“The champion” is a song from his Album “This God is Too Good” released in 2016 about the sovereignty of God’s power. It also encourages us to totally trust God because it’s only in Him that we can make our boast.

Even though I’ve had this song for a while, it only made the cut this morning to my song of week post because I woke feeling really down and disappointed. The devil was pushing thoughts in my head about how my trust in God hasn’t yielded so much in the first half of the year. He reminded me about all the goals that I had penned down that does not seem like it will even happen. But I was quick to remind myself with a scripture from the Bible that says:

Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord , I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.
Habakkuk 3:17‭-‬19 NKJV

As I was still meditating on that scripture, the lyrics of this song came to my head.

Here is the lyrics of the song;

Verse 1:

I come before my Lord and king

The one who gave his life for me

I’d raise the banner of his name

Until the nations follow Him.

Chorus:

The champion of the host above

And captain of my destiny

In you alone, I make my boast

You reign alone as God of all.

Verse 2:

We sing as one with heaven’s choir

The praises of our Saviour King

Emmanuel, our God with us

Redeemer us from heaven sin.

Vamp:

Amen, Amen, Amen

Hallelujah

So my last words this morning is, Trust God even when it seem like it doesn’t make sense to do so. I pray that we all get accelerated speed and strength to recover all that we didn’t accomplish in the first half of the year.

Happy new month and God bless you all.
