LIFESTYLE|| 6 Habits That Is Making You Unproductive

Have you ever been in a situation where you are torn in between a situation where you feel like you have so many things at the same time to attend to and they are being to overwhelm you? You would notice that in such situations, you eventually don’t get any of those things done. Recently I dipped my hands into so many activities at the same time and I have been taking more responsibilities than I expected with the hope that the experience would make me stronger and more productive. I, however, discovered that a lot of things started suffering, I couldn’t even finish all of my daily to-do lists and I kept pushing them to the next day. This is actually the reason why I have become inconsistent with the blog because I was thinking I could pull all of the other things together and become a superwoman without breaking a sweat.Vintage outfit

Pardon my manners; Welcome to a brand new week! If this is your first time here, I want to use this medium to say thank you for trusting me your time. I hope you had a fantastic weekend and may you slay your week in grand style.

Today’s post is centred about activities that we do consciously and unconsciously that have consistently contributed to our under productivity. I hope you would be able to relate with one or two of these activities and also take a cue from the post on how to make them become a thing of the past.

Checking Your Phone All The Time

It’s a digital world that we live in so it is therefore expected of us that we want to connect with our phones every now and them. A telecommunication company carried out a survey recently and it was deduced that most young adults feel dumb and dull when they are not aware of what is happening on the internet. There are so many benefits of having a smartphone, from being a substitute to a daily planner, Bible and other personal stuff there is a huge tendency for you to always want to reach out to the phone. So here are some few tips that can help you not reach out your phone while you work;

  • Switch off the phone or your data plan while you have something important to do
  • If you can’t do any of these then place your phone where you can’t easily reach while you work
  • Mute notifications so that you can concentrate.Black and a touch of pearl

Being In A Cluttered Environment

I don’t know about you but for me, my brain cannot function in a scattered environment. I also come to a realisation that a clean environment can help you boost your creativity. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you need a spotless environment to be creative all I’m saying is that it is important for your stuff to be arranged if you want to maximize your creativity. Here are my tips for de-cluttering;

  • Avoid eating around your workspace. Hard but cool
  • Take few minutes at the end of every day to tidy up your workspace
  • Find different ways to store your stuff. DIYs can come handy

Not Having a Schedule

Whether you agree to this or not, behind every successful event, project or work is a person who has a plan, strategy and tactics that was used to achieve that success. So the earlier you realise that a schedule is important the better for you. We are all busy, we wake up every day with so many things to do but have you noticed that we end up not doing half of what we planned to do? This is because we have not specifically scheduled it into our day. Here is how you can plan a little schedule for yourself

  • Schedule your task based on priority and due dates
  • Keep your schedule realistic; don’t overload your day
  • Reward yourself every time you finish your taskHow to wear black for a date

Your Choice of Food

First thing first, skipping breakfast has a way of making you drag. You might not agree but it is something I have tested over and over again. Every time I skip breakfast, I just become extremely sluggish and I sometimes even develop a headache. The tricky part, however, is that eating something heavy as breakfast would also not be too nice for your productivity level. So here is how to draw a balance;

  • Take cereals as breakfast
  • Prepare your own lunch and take it along
  • Drink water all through the day
  • Substitute snacks for fruitsHow to rock a black and Green Outfit

Comparing Yourself to Others

Nothing kills joy faster than thinking that somebody is better off than yourself. I understand that the pressure is stiffer because of social media but do you know that whatever you see on social media is not who that person is? Never use anybody’s milestone to judge yourself because the truth is that, that person might be envying you too. The next time you find yourself comparing your life to other people’s, do the following

  • Set out time to unplug from your phone
  • Focus on your goals and how to accomplish them
  • Count your blessings not your thunderstormBlack little dress

Giving yourself Too Much Work

Why is it that we tend to put more responsibilities on our shoulders than we can carry? Maybe it’s our way of proving something to ourselves or our unwillingness to say No. Regardless of what the reason is, the reality is that our busy schedules are why we’re stressed and our productivity is what suffers because of this negative feeling. You cannot do everything at the same time and the earlier you realise that the better you maximise your creativity. If you have your hands full of activities, don’t be lured into accepting another task or you’d end up feeling burned out and tired. Here is what you can do;

  • Practice saying No to extra activities
  • Check your schedule before accepting another task
  • You are more important than all the tasks
